Directed by Dr. Julia Cory, the Ensemble is committed to innovative performances of repertoire written and arranged for cello choir. An auditioned group that explores genres spanning classical to rock, the ensemble offers cellists and audiences a unique experience, challenging traditional boundaries of classical instruments and music. This May, the Ensemble will perform a concert tour in southern Spain and Morocco. Reflecting the international focus of the ensemble this spring, they have prepared a program including a mixture of American and European music. Looking back to the formation of the cello as a solo instrument, Dr. Cory has arranged Vivaldi’s double cello concerto for ensemble. Moving across the ocean to America, the ensemble will also include arrangements of Appalachia Waltz by Mark O’Conner, Jay Ungar’s Ashokan Farewell, and of course the Moroccan-influenced Led Zeppelin song, “Kashmir.” Please contact Paula at 582-2426 or Dr. Julia Cory julia.cory@montana.edu, 512-497-1916 with questions.
