Welcome to our re-organization!
You’ve probably noticed some changes in where you can get help from our Library staff recently. One of our four goals in our 2018-2021 Strategic Plan is to look at the issue of space and use our existing space as efficiently as possible. We want to simplify and improve how our patrons are served and make the most efficient use we can of our existing staff. So, we’re combining service areas on both the first floor and the second floor, from two desks to one, in an effort to do this.
Our Library staff have worked on a plan to make this happen. First, we’re combining the Reference Service on the second floor with the Computer Service area so that you can get help with both reference and technology questions from the same place. We plan to have a central service desk in the middle of the floor this year so that you will have one desk to go to.
The Circulation Desk on the first floor will add Information Desk staff and become the Customer Service Desk. We are working to increase the number of self-checks we have on both the first and second floors. Our Children’s Department and Teen Department will be the same except for combining their name into Youth Services.
The reorganization is a work in progress. I applaud the hard work of our staff to brainstorm ways to improve what we can do for you, our patrons, as we embrace our growing community. Thank you very much for your patience and support as we go forward!

From the Director
Welcome to the Library’s new website! We’re excited to bring you a new site that is colorful, streamlined, and easy to use. As a City department, we chose to use the same design group to create our space that created the City of Bozeman’s new website. We’ve spent much of the past year working to update the Library’s brand to reflect the Library’s dynamic growth and the positive energy of our enthusiastic patrons. Our new logo, a paper airplane on an upward trajectory, reflects the creativity we hope to inspire and nurture in our community.
More and more we’re emphasizing creativity and exploration. In addition to all of the great services and materials you’ve come to expect, you will also find a library that strives to inspire curiosity and civil community dialogue in a welcoming environment. We choose to be a welcoming place where people are treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.
We will also continue to expand our digital offerings and our new website is just the beginning. Soon, we will be bringing you the excellent online learning service, Lynda.com, which you will be able to use in the Library, at home, and on your mobile devices. Before long, you will also be able to read the most up-to-the-minute news with the New York Times online. And, true to our values, you will be able to access both of these wonderful resources for FREE with your Library card.
It’s an exciting time for the Library! In the new year, we will be unveiling our new Strategic Plan which was developed with input from the community. We’re passionate about our work in Bozeman’s extraordinary Public Library and determined to bring you the best possible customer service. Please let us know how we’re doing as we move into 2018. Your input is important.
There is joy in serving others. Thank you for letting us serve you!
