Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bozeman Public Library is closed to the public. This is in effect Tuesday, March 17th until further notice. We are asking that you keep your checked out items at home. Our book drops will be closed. All due dates have been extended for 8 weeks. Please see our website for further updates. While the library is closed for the current pandemic, we are issuing virtual library cards for those who want to access our services but don't have cards. You can apply for a virtual card here

Library cards are free for residents of Bozeman and Gallatin County. Stop by the Information Desk at the Library’s entrance to start your Library Card application.

Application Checklist

  1. One form of Photo ID

  2. Examples:
    • Driver’s License
    • State ID card
    • Passport
    • Military or Student ID

  3. Proof of Gallatin County Residency

  4. Examples:
    • Photo ID with name and current Gallatin County address
    • Mail posted to your current Gallatin County address or P.O. box
    • Utility bill, voter or vehicle registration, hunting or fishing license lease agreement, rental receipt, or property tax statement
    • Other - please check with staff


Children's Library Cards

Children under age 12 must have a parent or legal guardian's signature to get a Library card.
